Three queer companions researching intimacy.
We are a collective of three queer interdisciplinary artists coming from different cultural and practice backgrounds. We are brought together by our love of play and curiosity towards the impact social norms have on the body. In combination we bring together knowledge from performance, dance, philosophy, conflict management, poetry and sexological bodywork. The Combination as a collective developed organically from our own entanglements and putting our own relationality with each other in conversation with a wider discourse of quantum queer entanglements and artistic practice, including tools and methods from kink and somatics to explore these concepts on an embodied level.
Our research into quantum queer companionships was born out of spontaneous encounters and through reflections grew into an inquiry that delved into intimacy and relationality between queer bodies. We borrow from the metaphors of quantum physics which challenge our basic understanding of reality, knowledge and observation. We began this exploration in August of 2024, and the first itteration of our research is an evolving multimedia series of works under the name The Livingroom Series. Since starting this project we have had the chance to show our work at the 2025 Bonanzafest – Festival for trans and non-binary Art and Performance in Cologne. In August 2026 we will exhibit and perform at the Antwerp Queer Art Festival.
Our Process emerges through play and care oriented-encounters with minimal planning and plenty of space for exploring what is present. We have created these works through breakups, grief, regime falls, witnessing genocides, police repression, the rise of AFD votes, queerphobic and ableist political chaos, attachment triggers and insecurities. Our work is rooted in the belief that intimacy, with ourselves and each other, is a radical act of resilience and a wellspring of creative power. In a world that often seeks to isolate, police, or erase queer bodies, we see intimacy as both a sanctuary and a tool/toy: a way to nurture, to resist, and to reimagine what connection can be.
By centering the body as a site of knowledge, pleasure, and creative expression, we explore how to embody “queer excellence” – by challenging rigid categories, honoring the fluidity of experience, and making room for the messy, joyful, and transformative power of being truly seen. This is not just about sex/uality, but about how queer intimacy fuels our art, our politics, and our survival. We are using our bodies and our stories to build something more expansive, more tender, and more free.
