The Livingroom Series is a multimedia series of works that document and explore a continuous research process into quantum queer entanglements. The different works form a modular project with moving parts that can be adapted to the possibilities of different spaces. The pieces are developed over a series of encounters which form a process that is alive and becomes more dense over time.
The Livingroom Series currently encompasses: video art, short films, a photo exhibition, a living-room installation, a performance and a workshop. These components can be presented all together or in parts.
The Livingroom Series is, at its core, an experiment in tender resilience. It is a space where we ask: What happens when we let go of the need to be perfect, to be coherent, to be anything other than what we are in the moment? What emerges when we allow ourselves to be shaped by the messy, the failed, the absurd? And how can the act of creating—together, in all our complexity—become a form of resistance, a way of reclaiming agency and joy in a world that so often demands we fit into narrow, predefined ideas?
So the story behind this project is one of necessity and desire. We created it because we needed a space where the complexities of queer and trans intimacy could be celebrated, questioned, and shared without apology. It’s a response to the exhaustion of explanation, a refusal to be reduced to labels, and an invitation to encounter what comes next with curiosity and care.
The Livingroom Series transgresses liminal spaces and challenges notions of neat categories of intimacies and where they belong. Does my tentacle dildo belong on my friend’s face? Does the carpet from my living room belong into a museum? How do these objects influence and convey our relations in different contexts? This project is rooted in play and an ongoing attempt to push phantom binaries separating platonic and sexual, romance and friendship, public and private, performative and authentic, silly and profound. It is vulnerable, sexy, and walks the path of queer resilience through joy and pleasure. It has produced a body of work including archival material, film , photography, text, soft sculptures, a workshop, a performance, and a living-room installation.
The project uses the backdrop of the domestic and the assumed intimacy of the private to capture spontaneous encounters that blend relating, playing, and documenting into a dynamic, living research process. We approach intimacy as a spectrum, blurring the lines between the sexual and non-sexual, the serious and the silly, the defined and the undefined. Drawing inspiration from quantum entanglement, we embrace constant flux, allowing each moment to be both deeply personal and absurdly playful. The energy of the jester guides us, inviting risk-taking, weirdness, and liberation from social norms and taboos. Through objectification, masks, and clowning, we open intimate spaces and ask, if attachment wounds, care, chaos, and tenderness can coexist.
